What is a systemic board?
On a systemic board, people show their relationships in space with figures. Who stands close to whom, who is far away, who looks where? Distances, viewing directions and sizes make visible what is often hard to put into words.
The systemic board is used in counselling, coaching, supervision and therapy: for families as well as for teams, organisations or a person's inner parts.
What changes when the board is digital?
The method stays the same: your client sets up the figures, you ask questions, and together you try out changes. The digital board adds what wooden figures cannot do, or only with effort:
- Independent of location: your client joins via a link or QR code and sees every move instantly.
- New viewpoints: turn the board in 3D, look at it from above or switch to a figure's inside view.
- Try things without risk: undo and redo keep every arrangement reversible; a duplicated board keeps the starting point.
- Keep a record: the board stays saved and can be downloaded as an image or PDF.
Wooden or digital?
The wooden board has its own strength: picking up figures is a physical experience. The digital board shows its strengths when you work at a distance, want to keep constellations or change perspectives. Many practitioners therefore use both: the wooden board in the room and the online systemic board for video sessions.
Why 3D?
On a flat picture, distances and viewing directions quickly blur. In 3D they stay clear: figures stand on the board, have a size and look in a direction. Two perspectives are especially valuable for constellation work:
- Inside view: your client sees the system through the eyes of a figure. Who is in sight, who is behind?
- Meta position: looking from outside with some distance helps to see the whole without standing in the middle of it.

Yes. You can work on the board on your own, for example on a tablet you look at together. You only need a live session when your client works along on their own device.
